Amazon and Apple have been penalized more than €200 million (£168 million) by Italy’s competition commission for allegedly breaking competition rules. The fine relates to Beats headphones, which were purchased by Apple in 2014 for $3bn (£1.8bn). After signing a deal in 2018, Amazon’s Italian website was only open to a select few retailers. In a joint statement, both Apple and Amazon indicated they intend to fight the fines.
